OUR FIREY IS NEW PRESIDENT
IAN Pike takes great pride in his profession.
The former dairy farmer has represented the Caloundra district in Rural Fire Brigade Association Queensland for more than 37 years and has no plans of slowing down.
He has now been elected president of the association and has big plans on helping move it forward.
Mr Pike said he had enjoyed being on the committee for the past decade and being able to

voice his opinions.
“It’s been good – I’ve been able to put some views across to help brigades in the district,” he said.
Mr Pike’s former life as a keen farmer allowed him to find his calling as a rural firefighter.
“We were looking after our community at that stage,” he said
“It was at the stage where we were using our own equipment to make sure our own farms were safe.”
These moments changed his life forever and he’s never looked back.
“One of my most memorable moments was to receive the Australian Fire Service Medal,” Mr Pike said.
But above all he’s just happy to be at the forefront of guiding the teams assisting the community when it’s needed the most.
“I hope to better the organisation for our rural firefighters,” he said.
HONOURED TO SERVE: Ian Pike is the new president of the Rural Fire Brigade Association Queensland.
