Showcasing our suburb
It’s all about people choosing their own adventure. — Rachel Forsyth
A NEW interactive web series is set to put Caloundra on the map.
SCRAP, which has now commenced filming, tells the story of a quirky group of people brought together through different circumstances.
Last week Caloundra’s Rumba Resort was home to the first stages of filming.
The Resort’s events manager Kaileb Gosewinkel said he loves the series is showcasing Caloundra.
“It’s an opportunity to be a part of something important for the Coast,” he said.
“Being a local business not many people know what’s happening on the inside.
“This will give the community some insight into what’s on their doorstep.”
Creator of the series Rachel Forsyth said the show will follow the main character Jonathon, who has come to the Coast to study at University while living in a share house.
Ms Forsyth said it will then explore controversial issues affecting Australia with viewers then able to vote on how they’d like to see the series progress.
With the Coast as the main base for the series, Ms Forsyth said she wants the community to be involved in setting the scene.
“With Home and Away people travel to ‘Summer Bay’ to see where the show is set,” she said.
“So this series will also have a great tourist element.”
Ms Forsyth said she’d love the community to come together and build a show which really represents them.
“We’re calling out to the community if they want to see film and TV on the Coast then we need to build it together,” she said.
“It’s all about people choosing their own adventure.”
The series is aiming for the release by December.
