Palette of opportunities here
Go Arty started as a blank canvas, now it’s buzzing
SUNSHINE Coast art studio, Go Arty, was a blank canvas when founder Wanda James started, only offering art classes for those who had never painted before.
Today the studio delivers a complete palette of opportunity, from art classes to retail art, commission art, life drawing, jewellery classes and even hen’s parties for those soon-to-be creative brides.
Wanda’s frustration when searching for the right artwork and homewares to bring a renovation to life was the motivation for Go Arty.
Since then, Go Arty has become the Coast’s leading art specialists with a penchant for adding a stylish touch to living spaces.
Looking back at Go Arty’s progress, Wanda remembers a time where she was toying with the idea of retirement around 13 years ago after decades of building, renovating and 20 years in hospitality.
However, it wasn’t that much of a leap when she decided to take on a new challenge that drew on her passion for the arts.
“I’ve been in business since I was 20, but a great love of art, homewares and design has been my passion,” she said.
“You don’t need to have a degree in fine arts to appreciate the value and beauty of an art piece.
“As humans, we are hard-wired to enjoy art in its various forms: music, poetry and painting.”
Wanda said you will receive honest advice at Go Arty.
Go Arty has even facilitated a project at Kondalilla Falls with Army guys who had returned from some heavy-duty assignments.
“That was amazing; they sure put us through our paces. We all needed a few bottles of wine after that one,” Wanda said.
Wanda said seeing people’s faces when they have worked on a piece of art and they can say “I did that” is one of the most rewarding parts of what she does.
“It also gives me great satisfaction helping put the finishing touches on their home, office or apartment with art and homewares,” she said.
