Rolling back in time to decade of fluoro
IT’S TIME to put on those dance shoes, or more accurately those skating shoes, because David Wain is sending you back to the ’80s for a special reunion night.
The ex-Caloundra resident said he remembers his days in the region so fondly that he was inspired to organise the event to help other residents walk down memory lane.
“Sun Skate was the name of Caloundra Rollerdrome back in the ’80s and we all used to gather there,” he said.
“I went to the Caloundra High School reunion and that’s where I came up with the idea.
“We all had such a great time, they even extended the bar service for us. Hopefully they do that again.”
The reunion will take place on Saturday, May 26 and attendees are advised to bring the usual admission cost of Saturday night session.
Mr Wain said so far about 100 people expressed their interest in the event, but he is still welcoming anyone who loved the rink back in the day or anyone who would be keen to give skating another go again.
“Thirty years later it’s that freedom to put the wheels back on after so many years and go back down memory lane and have a few laughs,” he said.
“It’s open to anyone who used to go there.
“I’m even getting responses from a lot of people I had no idea about.”
The plan is for residents to come together, reminisce and socialise while supporting a Caloundra business that has been a part of the community for as long as them.
If you wish to RSVP to the event, phone David Wain on 0429 269 105.
80'S REWIND: David Wain is hosting a reunion at Caloundra roller drome which was formerly named Sun Skate for anyone who used to skate there back in the 80’s.
