↘ Power providers
A WARNING to all households in regards to overcharging by power providers: I have lived in two houses on the coast in the past seven years.
In the first house, my power bills crept up each bill till they had doubled. I questioned this with the provider and was told that the charges were correct, I rang the Power Ombudsman about this. After some investigation it turned out the provider had stopped the off-peak hot water discount, resulting in them having to refund me $1800 in overcharging. Second house the power bill suddenly increased by 150 per cent. When this provider was contacted they claimed our hot water system must have been faulty. We called an electrician who found the meter was faulty. If your bills have increased ridiculously, question it.
