All smiles as charities unite
IT SEEMS the Caloundra Rock and Blues Festival is the event that just keeps on giving as members from the Caloundra RSL, MixFM, and Wishlist met last week to discuss the plans for their unique partnership.
MixFM’s Give Me 5 For Kid’s charity will be the sole beneficiary of the three-day event as announced earlier in the year by the Caloundra RSL.
However, in a new turn of events using the money raised from the festival the children’s charity has decided to take on a project commissioned by Wishlist.
MixFM announcer Caroline Hutchinson is a driving force for the Give Me 5 For Kids initiative and she said the MixFm crew have an undying respect for Wishlist and everything they do.
“Wishlist is the best charity on the coast I think. Absolutely everyone will find themselves or their kids in the public hospital at some time in their lives,” she said.
Give me 5 For Kid’s are hoping to raise $600,000 within the next month to fund an infrastructure project that will accommodate families of sick children right next door to the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Caloundra RSL event manager Jenny Wilson said the establishment is committed to helping the charity reach their fund-raising target. She is urging festival attendees to get generous at all three raffles hosted throughout the weekend.
“We’ve had an absolutely amazing prize donated by Sun City Travel. Its two tickets on Rock the Boat Cruise leaving from Sydney in October. It’s a seven-night cruise visiting Noumea and Lifou valued at almost $6000.”
