Scholarships are on offer for regional students in Hinterland
FEDERAL Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace has encouraged students in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland to apply for a government-funded scholarship to study a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) course.
Mr Wallace said applications were now open for the $24 million Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships program.
“Scholarships of up to $18,000 are available to help students in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland with the costs of studying STEM at university or a vocational education and training institution,” Mr Wallace said.
“One of these scholarships could help a promising Hinterland student realise their potential and get a STEM education that will open a world of future possibilities.
“New guidelines will also make it easier for drought-affected students to apply, including families receiving the Farm Household Allowance.
“In total, more than 1200 rural, regional and remote students will receive support through the program.”
Applications close on Friday, December 14.
