Wind and solar are no answer to power costs

Sunshine Coast Daily - - NEWS | OPINION -

WE READ and hear that those in favour of getting our electricity via wind and solar power are claiming that this would not, in any manner whatsoever, increase the cost of electricity.

However, every check published regarding a possible cost difference makes it crystal clear that wind/solar-power electricity is not only more expensive than electricity produced by coal/gas-fired generation, but even nuclear power generation.

One published comparison notes that wind/solar power could be as much as 10 times the cost of coal/ gas/nuclear generated electricity and certainly more than five times the current cost to the vast majority of us.

We are already having to put up with an increased electricity cost and everything we read/hear from those who govern us makes it clear that this cost will certainly increase further.

When will we be able to guarantee that Australians, especially pensioners and those living on charities, that we will be able to turn on a fan in our homes this summer, use electricity to cook our food and the many other things we need electricity for, and actually be able to afford it?
