Coast daredevil lives out gamer’s dream

Sunshine Coast Daily - - NEWS -

A SUNSHINE Coast daredevil has lived the video game fan’s ultimate dream, taking flight in one of the most recognisable vehicles in gaming circles.

Nitro Circus scooter extraordinaire and Ryan “R Willy” Williams, who grew up on the Sunshine Coast, was one of the athletes to take a ride on the “Sparrow” craft as part of a promotion for the recently released Destiny 2 game.

The Sparrow is the primary terrestrial vehicle of the Destiny series, allowing players to cover vast distances in the game’s landscapes.

The real-life Sparrows were built from converted Jetovator technology, and developers needed two months of research and development, building and testing to refine the vehicles, which have a top speed of 40kmh on water and can fly up to 6m high.

The stuntmen took to the Shasta Lake in California for the joyride.
