THAT was a rhetorical question – no one can pull off khaki like Steve Irwin could.

But staff at Australia Zoo encouraged all fans to don their best greens yesterday, in memory of the late Aussie icon.

The zoo celebrated Khaki It Day in honour of the famous crocodile hunter, who died on September 4, 2006, after his chest was pierced by a stingray barb while filming an underwater documentary film titled Ocean’s Deadliest.

Gates opened earlier than usual at the Beerwah zoo, with Mix FM cooking up at 8am breakfast for zoo-goers, followed by a performance from musician Troy Cassar-Daley, belting out his greatest hits.

Terry, Bindi and Robert Irwin put on a croc-feeding show. All proceeds went towards the zoo’s Wildlife Warriors’ conservation program. LEGEND: Steve Irwin.
