UNBEARABLE COMMOTION AT STORES
THERE have been chaotic scenes at Build-A-Bear’s stores worldwide, as desperate parents scrambled to buy bargain toys at its Pay Your Age Day promotion.
Long queues and altercations between parents have been reported in the UK and US as families queued for up to nine hours, waiting to get their hands on the toys that usually cost up to $90.
As part of the deal, shoppers could buy a furry friend for as little as $1 ... or equivalent to their children’s ages.
To qualify, parents had to join the free Build-A-Bear bonus reward scheme.
But the stores had to shut down after unprecedented queues, witnesses said.
One parent posted on Facebook: “Build-A-Bear queue is insane ... They’ve capped it at a predicted nine-hour wait”.
