Country’s best set to hit the surf
THE country’s finest surf lifesavers will be in action at Coolum Beach today, determined to stamp their mark on the national Ocean6 Series.
Hundreds of elite athletes will battle it out across a variety of disciplines with the biggest names in the sport lining-up in the blue ribbon Nutri-Grain Ironman and Ironwoman Series.
The likes of Ali Day, Matt Poole, Matt Bevilacqua, Brielle Cooper, Jordan Mercer, Lana Rogers and Courtney Hancock will all be in the thick of the races.
Noosa athlete Rogers, who earlier this year was crowned Australian ironwoman champion, is keen to put on a show.
“I’m feeling and looking a lot better going into round two and it’s awesome to have it locally,” she said.
Rising stars will also kick up the sand, contesting U15 and U17 events.
While attracting the best in Australia, Sunshine Coast clubs will be out in force.
Races will run from 8am-3pm today.
