Speeding motorcyclist fined $750

Tablelands Advertiser - - NEWS -

A MAN who was travelling 25km/hr over the legal speed limit and failed to pull over when given direction by police, has been handed a $750 fine and no criminal conviction recorded on his history.

Police were conducting patrols along the Kennedy Highway, Koah, on September 14, in an unmarked vehicle when they recorded Brenton Les Hielscher travelling at 125km/hr in a 100km/re zone on his motorbike.

Police activated their lights and sirens to intercept Hielscher but he failed to pull over.

Smithfield police then intercepted Hielscher and he claimed he didn’t hear the sirens due to his noise reduction helmet and he “didn’t notice the police car behind him”.

Prosector Sergeant Karen Equinox told it was “unacceptable that he didn’t see police in his rear view mirrors”.

Hielscher was charged with disobeying the speed limit and drive without due care and attention.
