Head to The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary to see the largest butterfly and light aviary exhibit in Australia and the Southern hemisphere.
The sanctuary is home to more than 1500 beautiful tropical butterflies and guided tours give visitors the chance to learn all about the butterfly’s life cycle and behaviour.
Located in the Kuranda Heritage markets, Birdworld Kuranda is home to a variety of unique bird species from the vanishing forests of the world.
Come and see Amazonian macaws, the endangered cassowary, rainbow lorikeets, galahs, cockatoos and more.
With almost 80 different bird species, Birdworld is landscaped with waterfalls, ponds and exotic and native plants.

Step back in time on the Kuranda Scenic Railway and enjoy a spectacular journey through dense rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls. The famous railway travels through the World Heritage listed Barron Gorge National Park.
Of if you prefer, enjoy a bird’s eye view with an unforgettable journey over and through Australia’s World Heritage listed tropical rainforest on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.
Glide above the canopy in Skyrail’s six person gondola cabins and take in views of the rainforest, tropical Cairns, the Coral Sea and the lush highlands.
