PARTICIPANTS ran, jogged, skipped and jumped over the finish line at the Mareeba Rotary Bendigo Bank Fun Run and Walk at the Bicentennial Lakes in Mareeba.

After finishing, runners enjoyed orange slices and bananas while waiting for everyone to make it in.

A total $2040 was raised for the Mareeba Friends of the Hospital Foundation with about 100 runners and walkers taking part.

Mareeba Rotary Club president Matt Jacob said they had lots of people complete the online registration this year and the new course proved to be popular with participants.

“The weather held off for the day and we had excellent support from the community and local businesses,” he said.

“Rotary is really happy to run these types of events and to be able to use the Bicentennial Lake.

“A big thanks to our gold sponsors from Bendigo Bank and our silver sponsors.”

This was the second year that the Rotary has run a fun run in Mareeba.

Mr Jacob said that last year they held their event in October but people said it was too hot so they changed the date to a cooler time of year.
