Backpacker, Chloe Belsey pleaded guilty to possessing LSD, Marijuana and a grinder. On July 31 about 8:45pm police spotted a car parked in a Mareeba park. After conducting a search of the vehicle police located a grinder with green residue and a small brown paper bag containing four squares weighing 6.1 grams. Tests came back confirming the squares to be LSD. Belsey said in court on Monday August 14 that she had bought the drugs because her mum had come over for a holiday and she bought it for her. Belsey said she tried LSD once at a festival and she told her mum about the experience and she wanted to try it. Magistrate Tom Braes said they were very serious drug charges and if he sees her back in court again he will impose heavy penalties which may include a term of imprisonment. She was fined $1000 and given a 12 month good behaviour bond.
