Pink Ribbon Garden Party for cancer
Pink frocks and tea cups are enouraged at the annual Prink Ribbon Graden Party this weekend.
The Mareeba Lioness Club members Janet Mills, Sandra Kelly OAM, Catherine Gordois, Kathy Garozzo and Pauline McKinley have been busy preparing sandwiches and treats for the afternoon.
Fashion parades, sandwiches, tea and sweets will be dished up at the annual Pink Ribbion Garden Party.
The event will be held at the Mareeba Racecourse on Saturday August 19.
Mareeba Lioness Club president Kathy Garozzo said they usually raise about $10,000 for Cancer Council Queensland and they hope this year is no different.
“We encourage people to wear pink and bring their own tea cup on the day,” she said.
“There will still be cups available on the day for those who don’t wish to bring their own.”
She said Atherton Hotshots Big Band will be providing live entertainment throughout the afternoon and there will be plenty of cake, plant and produce stalls.
Mrs Garozzo said there will be raffles and $100 boards on the day.
“Everything will be beautifully decorated and all funds raised will go to Cancer Council and befit people locally,” she said.
Gates will open at 1 pm with afternoon tea being poured about 2:30 pm.
Tickets are $20 per person and are available at Rockmans Mareeba or at the gate on the day.
