FINE FOR OB­SCENE WORD

A noise com­plaint and yelling at po­lice has led to a $1000 fine for Ben­jamin Ri­ley. When po­lice re­sponded to a noise com­plaint in Ma­reeba, the 20year-old was seen by po­lice to have no shirt on and wav­ing his arms around try­ing to start a fight. Po­lice ar­rested him af­ter he yelled ob­scene words and he was charged with one count of as­sault or ob­struct­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer and one count of com­mit­ting pub­lic nui­sance. He was given one penalty for the two of­fences and fined $1000 with the con­vic­tion be­ing recorded.
