FINE FOR OBSCENE WORD
A noise complaint and yelling at police has led to a $1000 fine for Benjamin Riley. When police responded to a noise complaint in Mareeba, the 20year-old was seen by police to have no shirt on and waving his arms around trying to start a fight. Police arrested him after he yelled obscene words and he was charged with one count of assault or obstructing a police officer and one count of committing public nuisance. He was given one penalty for the two offences and fined $1000 with the conviction being recorded.
