Tablelands Advertiser - - NEWS -

Mareeba man, William Chin Fat pleaded guilty to two charges in court on Monday after police found him sitting in a vehicle after it had crashed into someone’s front yard. When asked by police at the scene what happened he said that a man named Steve had been driving at the time of the accident. When asked what Steve looked like Chin Fat said just like him. As he exited the vehicle the 49-year-old was seen stumbling and was slurring his words while talking to police. Chin Fat was charged with one count of drink driving and driving with a disqualified licence. Magistrate Tom Braes said Chin Fat had a dreadful driving history and that he should give up the thought of driving ever again. He was given five months jail for drink driving and nine months for driving while on a disqualified licence. He is now disqualified from holding a licence until 2019. Chin Fat was given an order of parole release and will spend no time in jail. However, if he is to committee an offence in the next nine months he will be sent to jail.
