Work has started on the Bolwarra Road Tate River Crossing renewal and upgrade 50km south-west of Chillagoe. The causeway is too low and is regularly covered by flood waters, which creates a severe safety hazard for motorists. Works will improve the causeway’s flood immunity. Works will include raising the height of the Tate causeway, straightening and widening to 4.5m. The project is funded through the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery Program, the Queensland Government’s Building Our Regions Program and the Community Resilience Fund. Works are scheduled to be complete by the start of the wet season.
