WOMAN GUILTY OF DRIV­ING OF­FENCES

Veron­ica Alpin pleaded guilty to three charges which oc­curred on Septem­ber 16 in Mareeba. Ap­pear­ing in court on Mon­day Septem­ber 18 Alpin was charged with one count of driv­ing an un­reg­is­tered car, one count of driv­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle whilst over the gen­eral al­co­hol limit but not over the middle al­co­hol limit and one count of driv­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle with­out a li­cence. Po­lice Prose­cu­tor Sergeant Karen Equinox said Alpin was pulled over by po­lice and had oc­cu­pants in the car who seemed to be in­tox­i­cated. “The car was un­reg­is­tered by eight days, the breath test she re­turned has a blood al­co­hol level of 0.09 (per cent) and a li­cence test has shown that Alpin’s li­cence has ex­pired.” She was fined a to­tal of $750 and dis­qual­i­fied from hold­ing a Queens­land driver’s li­cence for six months.
