FORMER TRUCK DRIVER CHARGED FOR DRUGS
MAREEBA resident Wayne Anthony Brown pleaded guilty to one count of driving a motor vehicle while a relevant drug was present in his blood or saliva at Mareeba Magistrates court on Monday. Senior Constable Deb Nagy said police stopped the vehicle he was driving and Brown did not make a confession about the drug use. “Police have swabbed him and have found a drug present,” she said. The court heard that Brown was driving cattle trucks for 22 years and did drugs to stay awake but had given up driving the trucks and had been driving a tractor on a farm. Brown was fined $750, disqualified from driving for three months and a conviction was recorded.
