Long road leads to the arrival of Emma

Tablelands Advertiser - - NEWS - Bec Singh

BABY Emma Kum Yuen was the perfect little gift for firsttime parents Wendy and Landon Kum Yuen, who had tried for a baby for 17 years.

After such a long time trying for a baby new mum Wendy said her and Landon had given up and to their surprise Emma came along.

“We had 10 years of fertility treatment and we gave up and then when I found out I was pregnant it took a while to settle in,” she said.

“We have had challenges but had good doctors. Even though it was a high risk pregnancy and I had to give birth in Cairns everything went really well.”

Emma will be surrounded by seven first time grandparents, four first time greatgrandparents and five first time aunties and uncles.

“There will be a lot of visits in the upcoming weeks. Everyone is so excited and happy,” Mrs Kum Yuen said.

“She is well worth the miracle.”

She said she appreciated being able to have care be- tween Cairns Hospital and Mareeba Hospital and also the midwife services.

“The midwives have gone above and beyond to help me and I have felt very supported,” Mrs Kum Yuen said.

The new parents will be enjoying their little miracle after waiting so long. Wendy said she was enjoying motherhood.

“I love being a new mum. She is real, she is all mine and she is not going anywhere,” she said.
