Focus on jobs in region
LNP will be focused on job creation for the Mareeba community with locals employed and their families’ futures secured.
LNP Candidate for Cook Penny Johnson said this was driving her campaign to have a prosperous economy.
“We need thousands more jobs in the seat of Cook in agriculture, tourism, small businesses and environmental fields,” she said.
“The future-proofing of hospitals and roads and water resource availability exist with smart locals.”
The former deputy mayor of Cook Shire Council said she understood rural people and felt at home in remote and rural communities.
“I moved to Far North Queensland about 20 years ago to work and study within the tourism industry,” she said.
“I managed a non-for-profit tourism icon which boosted local employment. I have always been about creating local jobs.”
Johnson said she enjoyed the challenges of reviewing legislation for the benefit of solving local issues.
“I am great at working with local Government laws and community engagement consultation comes naturally to me, particularly with delivery programs,” she said.
“I confess I love the land. I and have studied at an agricultural collage in my youth. I have found that the LNP is a natural fit for who I am and what I believe in FNQ.”
