LNP focus on Nullinga Dam

Tablelands Advertiser - - NEWS -

IF elected, the LNP have committed to investing $10 million towards an Environmental Impact Statement for Nullinga Dam which is only half the cost of the study.

Even if elected and implemented the study will take between 12 to 18 months to complete.

Shadow Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Northern Development Andrew Cripps last week announced that they would commit the money for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Nullinga Dam.

“The LNP is announcing $1.3 billion in water infrastructure commitments right across the state of Queensland particularly in regional and rural areas,” he said.

“The Nullinga Dam project has had its feasibility study done. Unfortunately the Palaszczuk Government has refused to release that report.”

He said they are not happy with that and have committed to contribute funds to progress the EIS.

He said the difference between the feasibility study and the EIS was important and the EIS was a step that needed to be taken.

“The $10 million is just half of the cost for the EIS for Nullinga Dam,” Mr Cripps said. “We will be working with the Federal Government to complete the project, as projects like this take time.”
