Police intercepted a vehicle on August 4 on Rankin Street, Mareeba and charged the driver with one count of drug driving. Appearing before the court selfrepresented Narelle Frances Montgomery, 44, said she had been smoking marijuana and had been pulled over twice before. “I work Monday to Saturday and it is very stressful and I use it to just calm myself,” she said. Magistrate Tom Braes said Montgomery should seek a medical prescription because if she continued to use the drug she could face more penalties. She was fined $600 with a conviction recorded and disqualified from driving for six months.
