Petition aimed at KURWorld
OPPONENTS of the KURWorld development near Kuranda have demanded more transparency from Mareeba Shire Council as they ramp up their fight against the resort.
Concerned residents from Kuranda and surrounding areas handed over a signed petition to the council on Wednesday which asks council to withdraw the delegation authority of council CEO Peter Franks.
Kur-Alert Inc president Steven Nowakowski handed over about 300 signatures.

Mr Nowakowski said residents were concerned about the Barnwell property as it was a controversial issue.
He said the petitioners wanted to be kept informed of council decisions on the resort and wanted their voices heard.
“The decisions for the property should have gone to full council,” he said.
“As a result residents were not consulted.”
