JAIL FOR BREAK-IN

Tablelands Advertiser - - NEWS -

A man who broke into a house on Anzac Avenue, Mareeba appeared before the Mareeba Magistrates Court on Monday to face the charge. The court heard George Vincent Ketchup, 23, unlawfully entered a shed on the property on October 11. Ketchup entered the property with three mates and took two packs of cigarettes, car keys and alcohol. During police investigations, it was found the victim had not locked the shed and Ketchup told police officers he had not taken the keys. Ketchup’s defence lawyer David Anderson said his client admitted he had too much to drink that day and had cooperated with police. “He entered a guilty plea at the earliest chance but his criminal history is not good,” he said. Ketchup had a conviction recorded and was sentenced to 12 months jail and will be eligible for parole April 3, 2018.
