Disability Week recognised at library
MAREEBA Shire Council library celebrated the positive impact people with a disability have in the community with a morning tea to mark International Disability Day.
International Disability Day was held December 3 but the library celebrated it last Thursday.
FlexiChoice service users were invited for a morning tea and craft activity.
FlexiChoice is a disability support service which has served the North Tablelands community for 14 years.
Library branch supervisor Wendy Rutherford said the library was inclusive of the entire community and the tea was perfect to showcase that.
“The library is for everyone and we want people with a disability to feel welcome at the library,” she said.
FlexiChoice service coordinator Virginia Carr said we were living in a time of change as walls were being broken down in what defines a person.
