Raid finds marijuana and rare WW1 gun
A RAID on a property in Mareeba has resulted in a 61-yearold being charged with drugs and weapons offences.
Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) laid the charges after executing a search warrant on Tinaroo Creek Road, Mareeba on Monday morning.
Officers executed the search warrant at the address about 10am and it will be alleged they found 107 cannabis seedlings as well as items used to produce the plants.
It will further be alleged that the 61-year-old man was also in possession of several firearms.
This included an unregistered 1917 Luger pistol and ammunition.
The man is expected to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on December 18.
He will be charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs, produce dangerous drugs, possess unregistered firearms, possess property suspected of being used in the commission of an offence, failure to store ammunition in a secured area, failure to store weapons in secure storage and fail to keep firearms unloaded when not being used.
