Vees revved up for Mareeba return
FORMULA Vee motor racing will be back in Mareeba next year after a hugely successful and incident-free event last weekend.
Eight drivers travelled to the Mareeba Makotrac International Racetrack last Saturday to test their skills.
With two cars available, the 1200cc and 1600cc, the drivers each completed about five laps of the track.
Formula Vee event organiser Tobia Kipper hailed the day a success and sauid they were already planning for the next event.
“All the feedback we received was positive, some drivers put their names down for the next race day,” he said.
“We are thinking we might have the next event on a Sunday because people usually work on a Saturday but it would be held after the wet season.”
Mareeba local and motorsports enthusiast Tod Hales said as it was his first time in Formula Vee and it took time to get used to the feel of the car.
“I felt like a sardine in a tin can. I can appreciate what the professional drivers go through,” he said.
