Mother’s Day shoot a ball of fun for women

TABLE­LANDS women are be­ing in­vited to broaden their hori­zons and learn gun safety in a Mother’s Day shoot at the Ma­reeba Pis­tol Club.

Club sec­re­tary Mar­garet El­lis said they en­cour­age all ladies to give shoot­ing ago.

“We are aim­ing to get more fe­males, of all ages, to join the club and to give them the chance to try some­thing new,” she said.

“On the day ladies will learn how to shoot, how to join and the im­por­tance of gun safety.”

At the present time the club has 110 mem­bers in­clud­ing about 30 fe­males.

Mrs El­lis said it is an easy fun sport for peo­ple of all walks of life to get in­volved in and a great way to so­cialise.

“There are lots of peo­ple to meet and ev­ery­one has fun,” she said.

“A big part of fir­ing a gun is about building con­fi­dence within your­self.”

She said she uses a .22 pis­tol which is easy and cheap to shoot. Those hop­ing to at­tend on the day must book as there are limited places.

They are also re­quired to bring their own eye and ear pro­tec­tion and wear cov­ered footwear. The shoot will be held on May 13 at 1.30pm at the Club on Roiko Road, Ma­reeba. For more in­for­ma­tion con­tact Mar­garet on 4092 4979 or Neale on 0417 797 456.
