Building with their own hands

Tablelands Advertiser - - NEWS - Bronwyn Wheatcroft

BIRD houses and bright colours were the focus of kids at Wednesday’s art activities.

Each week the Mareeba Shire Council Library on Byrnes Street helps grow children’s minds by running creative activities.

This week kids used mallets and glue to put together their own little wooden bird houses.

They were then required to paint them, wait for them to dry and then decorate them.

The 28 kids at Wednesday’s session used their fine motor skills and imaginations.

While kids waited for their houses to dry they did dot paintings and decorated their own cookies with icing sugar.

Next week the library will be holding a Teddy Bears Picnic on Wednesday April 18 at 10.30am.

Kids are encouraged to bring a teddy bear as they listen to stories and make honey sandwiches. For more information visit
