MAREEBA have taken away some harsh lessons from round 1 of the Cairns & District Rugby League competition but feel closer to putting it all together as they seek revenge against Mossman Port Douglas this weekend.

A-Grade lost at home to Kangaroos last Saturday 26-12.

However, Gladiators coach Matt Wakefield said they are prepared for tomorrow’s game.

“It was disappointing not to get the win,” he said.

“We will take a few positives out of the game. I think we have a lot to work on.

“I think we just need simplify our attack a bit more.

“We got into training this week and have worked on simplifying our game plan.

“Hopefully we can get the win tomorrow.”

Wakefield said clean execution was the key to reversing the Gators’ pre-season loss to the Sharks.

“I have a game plan on how we will play and hopefully the boys can take it out onto the field and bring home a win,” he said.

This weekend’s match will be played at Mossman Showgrounds followed by another home game next weekend.

The Mareeba Gladiators Colts won their match against the Roos 36 - 12 while reserve grade sit on top of the CDRL ladder after recording an emphatic 74-10 win.
