Courses for ewe success
TASMANIAN sheep producers keen to boost lamb-marking rates are urged to take part in the Lifetime Ewe Management courses.
The Lifetime Ewe Management program runs over the 12 month weaning-to-weaning cycle and Tasmanian farmers are urged to express interest for courses in the state.
The timing of each meeting during the course is linked to critical stages in the management of the ewe’s reproductive cycle.
All sessions involve a visit to each participant’s farm and focus on condition scoring, pasture assessment and feedbudgeting activities.
The course also focuses on improving producers’ understanding of the impact ewe nutrition during pregnancy has on the performance of the ewe and her progeny.
Key topics covered include preparing ewes for joining, managing lambing and putting it all together for a succesful enterprise.
