Young tal­ent time at show

SOME of Tas­ma­nia’s best cat­tle han­dlers, judges and pro­duc­ers will be vy­ing for prizes at to­mor­row’s Cir­cu­lar Head Show.

The show at Stan­ley will this year host the state ju­nior han­dler ti­tles for beef and dairy and the state fi­nal for ju­nior judg­ing.

An­other pop­u­lar fea­ture will be the on-the-hoof sec­tion of the show’s an­nual car­cass com­pe­ti­tion with about 70 cat­tle en­tered by some of the state’s best beef pro­duc­ers.

Judg­ing of this sec­tion will kick off at 10am.

The ex­hi­bi­tion hall will also be a high­light, with a cat­e­gory for novice cooks who have never won a first prize in the home pro­duce sec­tion.

The show will also in­clude eques­trian events, wood chop­ping, work­ing bul­locks, an­i­mal nurs­ery and a grand pa­rade held at 3pm.

The theme this year is Know Your Meat Cuts with ex­perts and demon­stra­tions.

Cost is $10, $5 for chil­dren up to 14 with under-fives free.
