Through my tele­vi­sion show, Ev­ery­day Gourmet, I’ve been lucky enough to cook in front of thou­sands of view­ers ev­ery day. I love hear­ing their sto­ries about what they’ve cooked and what they feel they need more help with. This book feels like a nat­u­ral ex­ten­sion of that shar­ing of knowl­edge. When it comes down to it, we all want sim­ple, whole­some, de­li­cious recipes that (most of the time) can be made through­out the week with ac­ces­si­ble in­gre­di­ents. I’ve struc­tured my book by in­gre­di­ent be­cause I find this to be the most use­ful di­rec­tory. When cook­ing, I al­ways start with a core in­gre­di­ent. I pre­fer to see what pro­duce looks good on the day and is at its sea­sonal peak. This is the food I love to cook and eat at home – ev­ery day. There are many French recipes, of course, be­cause I grew up with this cui­sine. There are also recipes from my trav­els and a few adapted from restau­rants I’ve been for­tu­nate enough to cook in. I hope you en­joy mak­ing the dishes your own and find­ing some new fam­ily favourites. Food makes me happy and I hope it does the same for you.
