Drinks editor Jane Thomson picks three wines ideal for sipping in springtime.
Mr. Riggs ‘The Gaffer’ Mclaren Vale Shiraz 2015 $25
Flavour packed and fruit driven, with lashings of blackcurrants, blueberry and dark cherry, plus a little vanilla and mocha. Serve with roasted vegies or a grain-based salad. Some of the sale proceeds help fund cancer research.
Gemtreelunade Fresa Tempranillo (Rosé) 2016 $20
Luna de Fresa translates as ‘strawberry moon’, which is apt given that the moon influences Gemtree’s harvest time. Bright salmon pink in colour, this is a light and dry rosé with flavours of strawberry and a slightly savoury, creamy finish.
Xanadudjl Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2016 $24
DJL refers to Doctor John Lagan, who founded Xanadu 40 years ago. This SBS has everyone swooning – fresh, tight and full of bright citrus, it’s like a dose of sunshine in a bottle.
