every year, when I slip the last of the Chrissy ham into a toastie, my mind turns to healthy eating. But what does healthy really mean? Where do we start? What’s standing in our way? These are some of the questions taste.com.au asked Australians recently in one of the nation’s biggest health surveys. What we discovered was startling. Not only were there major gaps around recommended daily allowances (of fruit and vegetables, for instance), but healthy food was also seen as expensive, time consuming and not as tasty. There’s also a whole load of confusion around mixed messages and impossible food rules. So, I’m thrilled to be launching taste.com.au Eat Real! We’re making 2018 the year to get real about health – we’ll prove, once and for all, that healthy doesn’t mean dieting or giving up favourite foods. It’s about balance, and eating healthy not because you have to, but because you love to. Get ready to change everything you thought about healthy! Our 19-page Eat Real feature, including our 7-day Kickstart Meal Plan, starts on page 101. And don’t forget to cook our front and back covers this month (one ‘naughty’, one ‘nice’) to double your chances of winning great prizes. Here’s to a deliciously easy, healthy 2018!
