HOMEGROUPS ARE MI­CROSOFT’S so­lu­tion to the tricky task of shar­ing files, print­ers and de­vices over net­works. Once set up, they make it easy to choose what to share with others, plus access shared con­tent from across your net­work, all with­out hav­ing to log onto shared fold­ers or get bogged down in tricky net­work set­tings.

Once set up, you can eas­ily browse the con­tents of other peo­ple’s PCs through File Ex­plorer — just ex­pand the HomeGroups en­try in the left-hand pane to get started. There’s more good news, too: HomeGroups don’t lock out other platforms, so MacOS and Linux users can access any folder you share with your HomeGroup — they’ll ap­pear as reg­u­lar shared fold­ers, and you’ll need your Win­dows user­name or Mi­crosoft Ac­count email address and pass­word to access them.
