SUSPECTED OF A CRIME IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA? YOU’LL NEED TO GIVE UP YOUR PASSWORDS
COUGH IT UP, MATE.
South Australia will soon introduce a new law that will see suspects forced to give up computer passwords or face jail time. The law is being drafted in consultation with SA senior police, who have repeatedly complained about thwarted investigations thanks to current legislation protecting privacy. Although the new law is aimed at those involved in access and distribution of child exploitation material, it could also be put to use in controlling organised crime.
