Ride-shar­ing gi­ant Uber has re­cently re­vealed that it cov­ered up a hack from 2016 by pay­ing out the re­quested ran­som of US$100,000. Over 57 mil­lion users had their per­sonal in­for­ma­tion stolen in the hack, with at least 1 in 10 Aussies caught up in the breach. Along with names, email ad­dresses and mo­bile num­bers of pas­sen­gers, li­cence plate num­bers of driv­ers were also com­pro­mised.
