As of mid-Oc­to­ber, PlayerUnknown’s Bat­tle­Grounds’ anti-cheat soft­ware, Bat­tlEye, had iden­ti­fied and banned over 322,000 cheat­ing play­ers and, ac­cord­ing to tweets from the of­fi­cial Bat­tlEye ac­count, was ban­ning play­ers at a rate of “6K-13K per day [and] the vast ma­jor­ity [are] from China”. The com­pany tweeted ear­lier in the year that “by nature, Bat­tle Royale games are a real mess to pro­tect”, cit­ing their height­ened com­pet­i­tive nature due to ev­ery­one want­ing to be the sole win­ner.
