The Demo­cratic Repub­lic of China isn’t afraid to ban things, and while the West might not agree with these de­ci­sions, it’s at least of­ten ob­vi­ous why they oc­cur. We can’t say the same for the re­cent black­list­ing of the chil­dren’s TV se­ries

Peppa Pig, at least not with­out fol­low­ing the No­to­ri­ous PIG down a Triad-shaped rab­bit hole. See, Peppa Pig has been adopted as the un­wit­ting mas­cot of an in­ter­net based anti-estab­lish­ment group known as ‘she­huiren’ and was sub­se­quently banned for pro­mot­ing ‘gang­ster’ at­ti­tudes.
