The Aus­tralian Com­pe­ti­tion and Con­sumer Com­mis­sion is look­ing into the data that Google col­lects from An­droid users, af­ter soft­ware com­pany Or­a­cle sug­gested it har­vests up to a gi­ga­byte from An­droid de­vices ev­ery month. While Or­a­cle’s orig­i­nal re­port was sparked by con­cerns over Google and Face­book’s dom­i­nance in the lo­cal ad­ver­tis­ing mar­ket, the watch­dog is now re­port­edly ex­plor­ing whether there is ad­e­quate user con­sent for all of the data Google cur­rently col­lects.
