AMOUNT OF ANNUAL E-WASTE EXPECTED TO BE PRODUCED GLOBALLY BY 2021

In the last nine years, the amount of e-waste produced globally has doubled, according to the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan. Currently, the world produces around 45 million metric tonnes of electronic waste each year, and by 2021, this is expected to surpass 52.2 million tonnes. What’s worse is that only 20% of all e-waste is recorded as being collected by the appropriate programs and recyclers, and only 41 nations officially record information on e-waste at all.
