There are a million and one cookbooks out there — each one of them claiming to be the best at something, whether that’s cakes, easy-to-cook meals, vegetarian, Italian, stove-top-based and everything else in between. But none of these books could ever hope to be the best at all of these things. ckbk is attempting to be the one service to rule them. Having curated a list of “the most essential cookbooks of all time” with the help of hundreds of chefs, the creators of ckbk have now worked with the publishers and writers of those books to bring together the ultimate collection of recipes. At the moment, this will be a web-based service (with an app coming soon) and will give subscribers unlimited access to everything in those essential cookbooks. You can either search for a specific recipe, browse for something new to attempt, share and save what you’ve found, filter by cuisine or dietary preferences, make a shopping list, as well as watch how-to videos to make sure you’re julienning just right. While many home cooks have some kind of cookbook or app to help them whip up a storm in the kitchen, this service looks pretty great. The only drawback will probably be the subscription cost.
