TYPO IN ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES CODE MAY EXPLAIN DODGY AI

BUT DOESN’T REDEEM THE GAME ENTIRELY.

TechLife Australia - - DISCOVER -

Five years after the game was released, a discovery in one of the game’s .INI files could go some way to explaining why

Aliens: Colonial Marines’ AI was so, well, crap. Poster JigglesBunny on gaming forum Resetera first revealed the typo — a rogue ‘a’ in some code — and theorised that it was this tiny mistake that could have caused the dodgy AI. This turned out to be only partially correct — with the correction made proving to improve the AI’s behaviour a little bit — but was enough to prompt developer Gearbox to post a job ad for a Programming Copy Editor to hopefully prevent this from happening again. Anyone looking for a job?
