Autonomous Role - Future Strategic Leadership Position
Arafura has embarked upon establishing mining infrastructure in the Northern Territory and a technologically advanced Rare Earths complex in Whyalla. The operation is expected to supply about 10 per cent of the world’s demand for rare earth elements, producing 20,000 tonnes a year when it begins production in 2013. Located in Whyalla, this position is the first role to be created for the site with the prime objective of coordinating the initial EHS activities on site and in the surrounding area leading up to construction and ultimately production. The position will evolve as the development of the site progresses and this will include the interface with regulators and management of consultants and contractors conducting work consistent with delivery of a compliant EIS. During the initial phases of site establishment and development the incumbent will be responsible for all site coordination activities and will be the prime Whyalla contact for the business and Arafura’s local representative. As the site development progresses the site coordination part of the role will reduce and the total focus will be upon the EHS performance and improvement. To be successful for this role it is envisaged that applicants should have a minimum of five years experience within a related industry. Experience in the chemical industry, preparation of an EIS and familiarity with marine environments will be highly regarded. Appropriate tertiary qualifications and a detailed knowledge of the regulatory landscape within SA are considered important.
Applications close 5pm, Friday 19 November 2010.
