■ FIND out to whom you ad­dress the ap­pli­ca­tion and spell their name cor­rectly.

■ Be con­cise but de­tailed in list­ing achieve­ments. Em­ploy­ers want to know as specif­i­cally as pos­si­ble what an ap­pli­cant brings to the party.

■ The re­sume should be easy to read. Use clear head­ings and sub-head­ings, white space to high­light points and dot points, not blocks of text. Use easy-toread fonts but not so big it looks am­a­teur­ish.

■ Do not sub­mit a re­sume com­pris­ing more than five pages. Most re­sumes have two to four pages, depend­ing on the pro­fes­sion or work his­tory.
